“I cannot fathom the suffering you, Debbie, and the family are experiencing. Debbie said Blake was God’s gift to you for 24 years, and his memorial service was evidence he was God’s gift to so many. He was quite a man.
Blake has always been special to me. I remember telling him how proud I was when he won the county athlete of the year award. I told him I wasn’t so proud about the award but rather the example he was to others. That’s what always came across with Blake. He understood his life meant something, and he had a responsibility to lead others. He certainly was a leader.
None of us will fully understand why God wanted to bring him home at such a young age. Personally I feel like he lived way more than 24 years. In fact I feel he ‘got it’ way earlier than most of us. We know each day is a gift, and we are to pay attention to those around us, and help those who come our way.
I’m still processing all of this and I know God will reveal more in His own time. I do know there were many who prior to Blake’s service never gave Christ much of a thought. That service was so strong in its message, ignoring is not an option. Lives will be changed. We may not know who, but we can rest in that truth.”
